The history

The property was bought by Severin Bjorøen around 1900. He was originally from Lie on Sotra, and changed his last name after moving to the islet. He built the villa which was completed in 1923. The family ran the farm and fishery. The herring fisheries had its heydays at this time, which the villa was characterized by: exclusive material choices such as teak and Moroccan tiles. At most, three families lived in the villa, a total of 12 people. In other words, it was both crowded and a lot of activity at Vestre at this time.

The property was in the family until early 2017, when it was bought by today's owners - the Persson family from Sotra. The buildings needed an upgrade and after several years of renovation the villa is now back in authentic style. We have chosen materials and colors based on what was originally used. Part of the interior has followed the villa from the beginning, some are from second-hand shops and some are from the ancestors of today's owners.
